With heavy hearts and profound gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Betty J. Tiffany Northedge, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend-who passed away peacefully onApril 03, 2025, just one month shy of her 96th birthday.
Betty was a force of nature-vibrant, strong, and full of joy, never passing up an opportunity to dance her way through life.
Betty Northedge was born in Michigan on May 11, 1929 to Elmer and Lennie Tiffany. She spenther years growing up in Michigan, where she graduated from Lakeview High School in 1948.
She worked at Gibson’s Manufacturing and Electrolux for many years. She lived in Big PineKey, Florida for a number of years before moving back to Michigan, where she met and married the joy of her life, George Northedge.
Betty moved to Alabama in 2005 once George passed. She loved visiting the VFW in Taylor, Alabama and is known for spending many nights there listening to the music and visiting hermany friends, who all addressed her as “Miss Betty”
Her beloved children from her first marriage are: Sandra Jane Jones Medaris, Carl Phillip Jones, Suzanne Rae Jones Merkey (Bruce Merkey), and Connie Jones. Step children are as follows,the late George Northedge, Gail Northedge, and Kim Northedge.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Jones; her second husband, George Northedge; her daughter, Sandra Jones Medaris; her son Carl Phillip Jones; her step-son George Northedge, and all three of her brothers, Keith Tiffany, Paul Tiffany, and Kenneth Tiffany.
Betty Northedge is survived by her two children, Suzanne (Bruce) Merkey (Sugarloaf Key, FL) and Connie Jones (Malvern, AL); Rhonda Blume (Indianapolis, IN), Robert Tate, Jr. (Indianapolis, IN), Heather Kirwan (Marathon, FL), Mandy Gilmore (Bonifay, FL), Keith Holm (Key West, FL), Dallas King (Malvern, AL), and Shana Jones (Geneva, AL); numerous great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at her place of burial in Michigan.
