Charles Edward Nelson, age 57, of Cottonwood, Alabama, passed away at his home early Monday morning, August 24, 2026.
Charles was born to the late Edward Nelson and Sarah Davis Nelson. He worked for many years as a mechanic in the automotive industry, a profession that suited his natural love for working with his hands. Charles enjoyed mechanic work and could often be found tinkering with old trucks. He was also a collector of many things. He enjoyed racing cars. Whether he was working on a vehicle, adding something to his collection, or spending time around the racetrack, Charles enjoyed the things that kept his hands and mind busy.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne Nelson, Kenneth Nelson, and Billy Nelson.
He is survived by his daughter, Jayla Long (Austen Hudson); three brothers, James Nelson (Janice), Eugene Nelson, and Bobby Nelson (Laura); one sister, Kathy Cole (Robert); and a special cousin, Sharon Kimbrel.
Charles will be remembered for his love of automobiles, his talent for working on just about anything mechanical, and the many memories he leaves behind with his family and friends.
