Forest Johnson Obituary

Forest Roland Johnson, 89, of Ashford, Alabama passed away peacefully July 30, 2025 in Panama City, Florida. Roland as he was commonly known, was born in Paxton, Florida on January 10, 1936 to W.T. “Bill” and Dixie Johnson.

He spent his younger years growing up on a farm in Walton County Florida.  A man of many talents and skills, there was nothing Roland couldn’t fix or figure out. His life as a Core Driller took him all over the country, landing him in Lebanon, VA for many years of his life.

Roland spent his last 35 years in Ashford, Alabama with his wife Jean.

Roland was a powerful character with a unique personality, spicy sense of humor and an unmatched ability in the art of lively debate.  Known for his creative use of words, one of his favorite go to one liners was “We won’t know anything about it in a 100 years anyway”
He lived his life boldly, unapologetically and on his own terms. Roland’s bigger than life presence will be forever missed.

Roland is survived by the love of his life Jean Johnson, children William Ronald “Ronnie” (Teresa), Donald Ray “Donnie” (Robin), Julianne, Karen (Mark), Teri (Mike), Kacie (Rodney), Kevin (Darcy), Sean (Shauna Capps), Angela (Keith).

Grandchildren Tyler, Leah, Sean, Jason, Malcolm, Mackenzie, Jordan, Joshua, Janae,
Thrice, Gwyn, Cally, Kilee, Devin, Amber, Brianna, Savannah, Sean Austin, Jared, Christina and five great grandchildren.

Sisters Margaret Lee and Hazel Collinsworth and many nieces and nephews.

Roland is proceeded in death by his parents W.T. “Bill” and Dixie Johnson, sister Eloise Laird, son Boyd and granddaughter Jessie.

The family has chosen to grieve their heartbreaking loss in private honoring Roland’s final wishes. Per Roland’s request, no services are planned at this time.
