Gary Elias Ward

Gary Elias Ward, age 57, of Samson, Alabama, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Flowers Hospital.

A Celebration of Life service will be be held at a later time.

Gary was born September 13, 1968, in Dothan, Alabama, to George Elias Ward and Mary Jane Whitehead Ward. He worked in construction all of his life and was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and dependable nature.

Gary enjoyed simple pleasures and cherished time spent with his family and his faithful k9 companion Camo.  He loved watching westerns and movies, grilling outdoors, listening to country music, cheering on Alabama football, fishing, and working in the yard. He also took pride in working on and cleaning his guns, a hobby he approached with great care and attention to detail.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Ward.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jennifer Michelle Ethridge Ward; father, George Elias Ward; daughters Maria Ann Pruett (Dustin); sons, Garrett Elias Ward, Gary Elias Leis-Ward (Hannah), and Jackson Gunner Ward; grandchildren, Gianna, Will, Drake, and Houston; great-grandchildren, Kellin and Reese; brother, Chris Hagler (Tina); along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Gary will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, love for his family, and the quiet joy he found in everyday moments. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
