Laverne Oretta (Howard) Haslett

Laverne Oretta Howard Haslett, age 83, of Ashford, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 16, 2025, following an extended illness.

Laverne was born on April 14, 1942, in Washington State to the late Norman Howard and Luella Nelson Howard.

She was a devoted member of the Church of God and found great joy in fellowship and Bible study. Laverne enjoyed spending time with her family playing games, crocheting, clam digging, sewing, cooking, and shopping. She also loved watching sermons on television and her favorite dish—chicken enchiladas. She was known for her caring heart, her wisdom, and her gift for problem-solving.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James Haslett; her son, Kirk Edward Haslett; daughter, Kelly Lynne Haslett Braaten; sisters, Marilyn Galster, Joyce Gregory, and Bunnie Jonas; and grandson, Bryson Morris.

Laverne is survived by her daughter, Carrie Partain (Bert); brother, Norman Edward Howard (Linda); sister, Bonnie Morris(John); grandchildren, Brittany Richardson (Justin), Salina James, Taylor Haslett (Aleia), Chaz Partain, Zachariah Partain, Tristan Partain, and Hailey Partain; great-grandchildren, Gracie Richardson, Hallie Richardson, Sadie Richardson, J.J. Richardson, James Richardson, Jack Richardson, Nathan James, Guinevere James, Eli James, Bennett Haslett, and Allusion Hoffman-Partain.

She also leaves behind special nieces Amber Jonas, Amanda Patton, Renee’ Burleson, Shelley, and Kim; dear friends Dave Woodham, Debbie Ledgerwood, and Duane Johnson; along with a host of extended family members and many cherished friends.

Laverne will be remembered for her faith, her love for family, and her gentle spirit that touched everyone she met.
