Mary Ellen Lakey Yates
Mary Yates age 86 of Dothan, passed away, Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Wesley Place Nursing Facility. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2021, 11 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (912 State Avernus, Dothan, AL 36303)
Mary was born June 7, 1938 in California to Pierce and Effie Jones Lakey. She enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping, traveling and flowers. She was a devout Jehovah's Witness. She loved spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis Paul Yates; grandson Timothy Benefield; brothers Alvin Lakey, Junior Lakey; sisters Gladys Chaney, Barbara Conradi.
Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Ray Ellis Yates; sons Stephen Ray Yates (Karen), Terry Lee Yates (Miriam); daughter Lisa Ann Yon (Paul); grandchildren Brandon, James Ray, Dennis, Tia, Duane, Eddie Ray, Chelsea, Sabrina and Ashley; 15 great grandchildren; sister Elsa Byrd; Mary's beloved fur baby Mr. Rascal.
