Nick Spina Obituary

Nick Joseph Spina, age 94, of Dothan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Westside Terrace.

Mr. Spina was born on June 16, 1931, in Alabama to Paul Joseph Spina and Mary Aquilino Spina. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he carried the values of service, dedication, and hard work throughout his life.

Nick was a successful business owner of Pines III Nurseries, where his love for landscaping and working outdoors flourished. He was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, enjoying ventures such as flipping houses. In his quieter moments, he loved reading, writing letters, and dancing the jitterbug — a pastime that reflected his joyful personality and zest for life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Marion Spina; his close cousin, Sal Campisi and his brother-in-law and best friend, Carlo Maenza.

Nick leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and devotion to family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Rose Marie Maenza Spina; his sons, Paul Spina (Joann), Sam Spina (Cindy), Nick Spina, Jr. (Annette), and Steve Spina (Debra); and his daughter, Maryann Spina Valencia (Luis).

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Paul Spina (Deanna), Mary Rose Baker (Myron), Nick Spina (Raquel), Angela Flores (Carlos), Kate Fetzer (Tom), Ashley Bryan (Jeremy), Alyssa Spina (Travis Gross), Anthony Spina (Thea), Nick Spina IV (Sarah), and Felicia Spina Sloan, Luis Valencia, Jr (Randi), Anna Rose Spina, Elena Spina, along with numerous great-grandchildren.

Additional survivors include his brother, Paul Spina (Bena); his sister, Providence Murphree (Charles); and his close cousin, Nick Campisi.

Nick Joseph Spina will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, his lively spirit, and the countless lives he touched throughout his 94 years.
