Roger Dale Benton

Roger Dale Benton, a longtime resident of Newton, passed away on November 5, 2024, at the age of 80. 

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Fowler Family Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held immediately following visitation at Newton City Cemetery. 

Roger spent most of his life in Dale County, He served in the U.S. Army, including time spent in Alaska. Over the years, he worked in Ann Arbor Michigan and Florida, before returning to Newton. Roger spent many years in the lawn care business and built cherished relationships with many special clients.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hillburn Benton and Larry Benton, and sister, Virginia Tomlin. He is survived by his brother, Willbur Benton (wife, Nancy) of Prattville, AL; and his sisters, Bobbie Sylvester of Dothan, AL, Carolyn McLaney of Dothan, AL, Linda Yarbrough (husband, Gary) of Midland City, AL, Debbie Barrett of Dothan, AL, and Sister-in-Law Barbra Benton of Newton,AL. Roger is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews: Michael McLaney, Chad White, Scottie Yarbrough, Chris McCarty, John Raymond Benton, and Tyler Barrett.
